Auto-Away: This feature allows Nest to adjust the temperature setting based on whether or not you or your family are home. When it senses that your home is empty it will adjust accordingly, meaning that you won’t be wasting precious energy that you aren’t even home to enjoy.
Auto-Schedule: Tied into the auto-away feature somewhat, the auto-schedule feature is used by Nest to determine how it should set the temperature and when. If you work during the week but are home during the weekends, Nest will adjust accordingly without needing you to input any information manually.
Time-to-Temp: Nest doesn’t just learn your routines; it also learns how much time it takes to adjust the temperature in your home. For instance, if you choose to turn off the A/C in the middle of the day, it will factor in the current temperature inside your home as well as the conditions outside and provide you with a time frame for how long the cooling process will take. This can be handy when trying to schedule temperature adjustments.
Early-On: A bit less green than most of its features, Nest also has the ability to switch on before you arrive home so that the temperature is already set just the way you like it. It may not be the most efficient feature in the world since the temperature will be adjusted while you are potentially away from home, but it is one of those features that is the hallmark of user-friendly smart technology.
